Policy
Pipemakers Australia Pty Ltd is committed to continuous improvement in its environmental performance including improving energy efficiency. Pipemakers Australia Pty Ltd, as a Signatory to the Australian PVC Industry Product Stewardship Program is committed to reducing the amount of waste generated from the use of its products. The following are guidelines on how to and where to reuse, recycle or dispose of our products safely.

Re-use
Re-using PVC is mostly relevant in manufacture where off-cuts and scrapped product can be “granulated” (a process of grinding PVC products into smaller re-usable sized particles) and returned into non-pressure products such as stormwater. This eliminates the need to send scrapped product to landfill, reduces waste costs and contributes to the overall recycling policy.

Recycling
Virtually all scrapped PVC material during the manufacturing process can be “granulated” and then re-used in the manufacture of non-pressure products. Pipemakers aims to divert almost all of its scrapped material into products such as stormwater through this process.

Recycling of Scrap from Site
Pipemakers is prepared to work with Landfill managers to have PVC that is suitable for re-use returned to our Acacia ridge manufacturing facility. This process is not always feasible due to the associated costs such as separation and cleaning that can be required. Where mutually beneficial arrangements can be accommodated, Pipemakers is prepared to recycle scrap from site or landfill.

Safe Disposal
Waste PVC products are safe to dispose of at landfill facilities operated by the Local Government. Please refer to your local council for up to date information relating to your particular disposal requirements.

Use of Organic Stabilizer
Pipemakers no longer uses lead based stabilizers in the manufacture of its products. The move away from lead based stabilizers has been part of the commitment to the Vinyl Council and its Australian PVC Industry Product Stewardship programme.

Pipemakers have substituted Organic Stabilizer as their replacement for the lead based stabilizers.
